Our Puppy Training Method

Getting a puppy is exciting, but it can be overwhelming. Our puppy program takes you all the way from "Should I get a a puppy?" through to "How can I stop my 1 year old dog barking for attention".

Puppy program's are not just about teaching commands like sit, stay and down. Are these important? Yes. But is having great command training related to having a well behaved dog? We think there is more to it.

Our puppy program is broken up into 3 stages: "pre-puppy", "puppy program" and "post-puppy program".

The "pre-puppy program: is about learning whether you are ready for a dog and if so, which breeds might work for you. How can you prepare your house for your new arrival and what can you expect?

Next, we have "the Puppy Program". This is Day 1 to end of their puppy school. Think everything you need to know about setting your puppy up for success including behaviourism, training and socialisation.

Finally, the "post-puppy program". This is a sort course with extended support to help you navigate their first year. We do deep dive sessions into common problems you may, how to identify them and solve them BEFORE THEY become an issue.

Imagine being able to identify problem behaviours at their earliest stage? Imagine the frustration and pain you are going to avoid. That is what we help you do.

Our method establishes a solid foundation that grows with you and your dog over time. By working with your dog's natural instincts through gentle, non-violent techniques, we create solutions that are truly future-proof. You'll not only learn what to do, but understand why it works – empowering you to handle new situations with confidence and prevent problems before they start.

The result? A transformed relationship built on mutual understanding, respect, and joy that lasts a lifetime.

All of our training comes with ongoing online support, access to the Online Dog Trainer and a 100% money back guarantee to give you the confidence that you are always in safe hands.

Pre - 8 Weeks

Pre-Puppy Preparation

Before your puppy even comes home, there's stuff you need to do. Most people in Sydney just wing it - they get the puppy, then figure out they weren't ready. Then the first week is chaos and the puppy learns all the wrong things.

Puppy preparation has 2 main parts. The first, and most often overlooked part, is are you even ready for a dog? If so, what breed would be a good fit for your situation? Should you get a puppy or rescue?

The next part is about getting prepared for Day 1. Where will the puppy sleep? Where will they go to the bathroom? What rooms are off-limits? What supplies do you actually need versus what pet stores try to sell you?

You receive access to our video tutorials, breed profiles and preparation guides to make sure you get off to the best start.

8 - 16 weeks

New Puppy Program

This is the golden window for puppy training in Sydney. Between 8 and 16 weeks, your puppy is learning about the world. Everything they experience now shapes how they'll act as an adult dog. Good experiences create confident dogs. Bad experiences (or no experiences) create anxious, reactive dogs.

Our puppy school runs in small groups around Sydney - eastern suburbs, inner west, north shore. We keep classes tiny, usually just 8- 10 puppies, giving you a balance between socialisation and 1:1 learning.

Between 8 - 12 weeks you are going to be focussed in your home and our course helps you get through the first few weeks of toileting, chewing and crying at night.

Once your puppy hits 12 weeks we begin our once a week puppy school where we focus on behaviourism, training, socialisation and more owner education.

You always have access to our online training portal with 300+ video tutorials and your puppy cohort. You can find information on everything you can think about when it comes to your puppy.

Training is not just about sit, stay and down. It is about giving you as an owner, the tools to create a well balanced, sociable dog that is stress free to own.

16 - 52 weeks

Perfect Pup to Perfect Companion

After 16 weeks, your puppy hits adolescence. This is when some owners think training is done. Big mistake. Adolescent dogs are like teenagers - they test boundaries, forget stuff they knew, get distracted by everything.

Post puppy program covers ages 16 weeks to one year. You continue within your puppy cohort and get expert guidance on how to identify potential behavioural problems before they occur as well as some hands on help.

This program is customised based on what your dog needs. Some dogs breeze through adolescence. Others need more support with impulse control, focus, or managing their energy. We adjust the training to fit your actual dog, not some generic program.

One family in Balmain had a labradoodle who was perfect at home but lost his mind in public. The family used our "Mastering The Walk" course to finally get her to Rozelle markets on a Saturday morning without pulling or jumping on people.

I’m in the inner west of Sydney and Luke kindly travelled to us to support in some of my 10 years old Cavalier’s behavioural issues mainly around food / treat demands. Before I found Luke I had honestly gotten to the point of almost giving up, I felt so helpless and frustrated by my dog’s demanding behaviour which admittedly came from spoiling him too much. Luke’s simple and straightforward program has practically delivered me a new dog within a week! Benji is so much calmer now that I’m following the key rules and I am so grateful to Luke for this. It’s crazy to notice how much this was really affecting me, how much tension I have been holding in my body and how much I have been sacrificing around my daily pleasures just to keep some sanity. It does take commitment and a bit of work to stick to the program, but in almost no time at all you will have a much calmer and seemingly new dog and after a while it becomes no extra work at all. If you’re in Sydney and need help with your dog, don’t think twice about contacting Luke. Not only is the program awesome but he is so helpful, attentive, and committed to helping. You can tell how much he loves dogs and people. Thank you Luke!!!
