Luke & The Toe Bean Co. have truly been a blessing for my pupper and me. After doing a deep dive trying to find the right trainer, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

From the very beginning, Luke and his team were incredibly accommodating. He took the time to personally meet with us, understand our living situation, and really listen to our circumstances. The entire program was thoughtfully customised to suit my pupper and her specific needs — it wasn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, and that made all the difference. We did both one on one sessions and socialising puppy school as well.

As a first-time dog mum, I was honestly overwhelmed at the start. Luke gave me the confidence to believe that I could do this. He was always available whenever I called or texted, and his constant guidance and support have been such a huge contributor to my baby now being calm, collected, and truly living her best life.

It goes without saying — my pupper absolutely adores Luke! His passion and genuine love for dogs is so evident in everything he does.

I also love hearing how it all began. Luke has always loved dogs (as you can definitely tell! 😂). While living in London and Edinburgh, he looked after dogs alongside his other job, which naturally led him to pursue formal dog training qualifications. He became fascinated by understanding why dogs behave differently with and without their owners. After moving to Australia, he decided to take the leap and run The Toe Bean Co. full time — and we’re so lucky he did!

Thank you so much, Luke & The Toe Bean Co. We are beyond grateful. Highly, highly recommend! 🐾

Luke came to help us on day 3 of having our puppy and was simply amazing. We learnt so much in our first session and now feel more confident with training and establishing a routine. Luke was so loving and gentle with Henrietta, and she adored him too. A great service and would highly recommend!

We had such a wonderful experience working with Luke. From our very first session, he was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring toward our Winnie.

He took the time to understand our concerns and gave us practical, easy-to-follow tools that made a real difference. We saw positive improvements straight away, and the training felt tailored to our dog’s individual needs.

What really stood out was how inclusive Luke was — he made a beautiful effort to involve my mum and my daughter in the sessions so everyone felt confident and supported. He was also incredibly patient and understanding with my mum’s older dog, showing genuine kindness and respect for his needs.

We’re so grateful for Luke’s guidance and support — and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a trainer who truly cares.

Our Story

Raising A great dog doesn't happen by accident

Our Complete Puppy Program

Our Complete Puppy Program helps you to navigate the first 6 months of puppyhood. Think of us as a Fairy Godmother for your puppy and you. We can always to help.

Most people have been brainwashed into thinking that if your dog can do sit or paw, they are well behaved. But a well behaved dog is much more than that. Can you leave them at home without barking? Or meet dogs in the park without reacting? Do they resource guard? Or can they be walked calmly on the leash?

Although a lot of owners think their dog will do this naturally, I can tell you for a fact that they cannot. There are more owners than ever before with dogs suffering from separation anxiety, that cannot be walked calmly or are reactive to everyone.

Dog behaviour has 4 key components: owner education (breed specific insights), socialisation (dogs, humans and other animals), behaviourism (not just bribing with cheese) and finally command training.

Adolescent Dog Training (6 Months+)

Between 4 and 12 months your dog goes through a huge amount of change. They grow from the cuddly puppy into their full size. They build confidence and want to understand their place in the world around them. In human terms they have all the bravado of a teenager and many owners feel they lose control of their dog in and around this time.

  • Behaviours that were once cute are now a problem
  • Your dog develops their full personality, and deeply embedded breed characteristics become more obvious
  • Your dog will be out more with other dogs and it is not uncommon

How Does Your Dog Training Work?

Developing a well behaved dog has 2 parts: dog psychology & dog training. We focus first on understanding your dog and getting them to choose to follow and listen to us. When dogs aren't making all the decisions, they calm down and relax, making them far more receptive to training. To do this, we don’t need to use force, fear or aggression. In fact the opposite. Whether dealing with barking, leash pulling, jumping, or aggression, these behaviours typically stem from dogs being too excited, reactive, and emotional. The key is getting them to turn to you and listen when it matters. Once they're calm and looking to you for guidance, you can effectively show them how to behave.
In short: before you train the dog, you need to win their mind.

What Qualifications to You Have?

All our team members are required to pass AFP background checks before working with us as well as sitting and passing the Red Cross Pet First Aid Australia course. I trained under Dan Adbelnoor and graduate from the Dog Trainer Academy whilst also being a Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) from Pet Sitters International.

Can You Guarantee Results?

No dog trainer or behaviourist can guarantee outcomes in a given timeframe unless they are willing to use unethical methods (eg shock collars etc). As a completely dog training organisation, we would never use these methods.

There are 4 important factors when it comes to training:

  • Your ability to be consistent (the most important)
  • Your personality
  • Your dog's breed
  • Your dog's background

We always tell our clients that if you follow our training, are patient and diligent you should see the 1/1/1 rule. That is gradual improvement in 1 day, 1 week and 1 month.

The methods we used have helped over 100,000 other dog owners to solve their dog's behavioural issues.

What Are The Main Services You Offer?

We help pet owners with everything from buying the right no pull harness through to fixing dog aggression. The most common areas that people work with us on include:

  • Puppy school (puppies 0 -4 Months)
  • Puppy Programs
  • Adolescent Puppy Training (4 - 12 Months)
  • Adult Dog Training (12 Months+)
  • Online Dog Training
  • Dog Day Care, Pet Sitting and Dog Walking

Does Your Training Use Fear, Force Or Aggression?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. If you want a method like that I suggest you call the 1980's, go back there and never get a dog. We teach the dog calming code, a method based on positive reinforcement that reinforces your role as the leader in your dog's eyes.

Absolutely. We help owners all across the world with their dog's and cats. Best thing to do is join our community and get involved. There is plenty of free training support and advice, as well as further online training if you want to use that.

What Is The Best Dog Training Method?

That is a great question. There are currently 4 major ethical schools of thought that have significant evidence behind them in terms of results for owners.

Plenty of trainers have a "die on a hill" mentality when it comes to their method. Our view is simple. it's similar to dieting.

If you want to lose weight, the best diet for you is the one you follow.

Different people are likely to stick with different things. All that matters is that you do something consistently.

Our method is a great foundation and has worked for huge numbers of owners. For those looking for something different we can incorporate other methods on top of this core behaviourism training.
