Sydney Puppy School & Program (8 Weeks - 8 Months)
The first 6 months of your puppy's life set the founation for the next 10 years. Our Puppy Program incorporates a 4 week puppy school alongisde 6 months of ongoing support across email, community, chat, video tutorail and more making sure you always have someone in your corner.
What Makes Us Different?
Our puppy program is designed is for owners who want the best for their dog. The program started in response to comments during our Behavioural Training for adult dogs. Owners said it would have saved them stress, time and money in the long run.
What Should A Puppy Program Deliver You?
What is it?
In short answer, a high quality puppy school and program should be the foundation to develop your dog's behavioural capabilities and your understanding. Yes, you might get some cute instagram videos of lots of puppies, and yes you will learn some basic commands (which let's be honest you could just youtube) but that is such a tiny part of a high quality program.
Who is the program for (and not for)?
Who Is It For?
Our program is for new puppy parents (expereinced or not) who are looking to take a proactive approach to their dog's behaviourism. What does this actually mean?
Dog training is usually about commands such as sit, stay etc but this is separate from manging dog behaviour. I train a lot of adult dogs, and many can sit and stay but have terrible behavioural issues. For owners this is an incredibly stressful experience, and we work with people that want to do their best to minimise the risk of this happening. We have worked with people from the following backgrounds:
- New puppy owners
- First-time dog parents
- People looking for a refresher
- Families wanting to prevent behavioural issues
- Anyone struggling with puppy house training
- Owners dealing with puppy biting, barking, or jumping
The Program (8 - 32 Weeks)
How and When
It is important to understand the stages of puppy development:
- 8 - 12 Weeks: Essentially an adorable hairy potato with legs
- 12 - 16 Weeks: The potato starts realising it is a dog
- 16 - 32 Weeks: They are becoming an adolescent and you need some tools to manage them
Our program works by providing you access to our support tools (alongside a cohort of other new puppy parents) to help with things like toilet training, crate training and feeding etc.
Between 8 - 12 weeks we give you access to our video database and support community to get help on everything from chewing to toilet training and managing crying at night.
Once they hit the 12 weeks, you begin a 4 week puppy school where we cover dog behaviourism, dog training (commands), common problems, socialisation and other health and safety information.
After 16 weeks, your dog's personaility will really come out and they can start to push the boundaries. We give you the support to manage any behaviours as soon as they come up and continue training.
For NON Sydney residents, we do offer a an alternative online version of puppy school (obviously no socialisation) that you can find more details about.
What Next
Lot's of Ongoing Support
After 16 weeks, we don't just say " Good Luck". Although, we do see that a lot. You continue to receive access to the online training platform for another 4 months with additional phone and email support (6 Months Support total). You also have lifetime access to one of our courses and get training tools included with your course. Once your access expires, you still remain in your cohort.
Some people also choose our "post-puppy program" which extends this support further and goes deeper into common behavioural issues and how they can fix them.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Course Is Best For Me?
This really depends on which stage you are at. If you are still deciding whether a puppy is the right move for you, or need further details on which breed might work, I would recommend the pre-puppy course. If you know you have a puppy on the way then sign up to the puppy program. If you have already been to puppy school or have a dog that is older than 6 months you can join our adolescent program that helps manage behavioural issues and puppies that are coming into their teenage years.
Does Your Training Use Fear, Force Or Aggression?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. If you want a method like that I suggest you call the 1980's, go back there and never get a dog. We a method based on positive reinforcement that uses your dog's psychology to make them want to follow you and be part of your team.
Does Your Method Work?
Our method has helped over 100,000 dog owners to get the relationship with their dog they always wanted.
What Are The Requirements For Puppy School?
To attend the puppy school, your dog must be between 12 - 16 weeks. Ideally they are 12 weeks old and unfortunately any dog older than 16 weeks cannot attend our school. You can still enrol for the program as an online student. Your puppy must also have their vaccinations up to date. We cannot accept any unvaccinated dogs onto the program.
How Much Support Do I Get?
Think of us like your Puppy's fairy godmother.
For the duration of the course you get:
- 6 months video database access (ability to extend 6 months) including 4 dedicated puppy courses
- Lifetime access to our community
- Lifetime access to the dog calming code
- 6 months of email and chat support
- Training tools (like harnesses)
- 4 weeks of puppy school
- Optional: We can come and do a 1:1 visit with your puppy
- Access weekly webinars and Q&A's on puppy ownership
If I Want More Personalised Support, Can I Get It?
Our program should provide everything you need for your first 6 months (completely tailored to you). However, there are a few extra things we can add in:
- 1:1 puppy visit at your home OR 1:1 virtual home visit via facetime
- Additional 6 months video tutorial support
- Our additional coaching program
Can I Do The Programs Online?
We do offer a fully online program where you can see pre-recorded puppy classes and workshops if you are not in the Sydney area.
Can I Get More Details About The Puppy School?
The puppy school is 4 consecutive weeks and sessions last up to 1 hour. You will be in a class with up to 10 puppies which gives a good balance between socialisation and session control. The puppy school covers 4 main areas: dog behaviourism, command training (sit, stay, down, walk, recall), socialisation and finally owner education. Your puppy must be between 12 - 16 weeks to attend the course. For bigger breeds your dog must be between 12 - 13 weeks.
What Behavioural Challenges Can We Learn About?
We cover the following:
Leash and walking issues - pulling, reactivity, and aggression during walks
Jumping up on people - inappropriate greeting behaviour and attention-seeking
Excessive barking - at doors, for attention, when left alone, in cars, and around property
Aggression problems - toward people, other animals, or objects
Separation anxiety - destructive behaviour and distress when left alone
Biting, nipping, and destructive chewing - especially common in puppies
Recall issues - not coming when called or running away
Potty training problems - house-breaking difficulties
Fearfulness and anxiety - phobias, scared behaviour, and hyperactivity
Puppy behavioural issues - general new puppy adjustment problems
Inappropriate elimination - including eating faeces
Furniture and boundary issues - jumping on furniture, accessing restricted areas
Multi-dog household problems - dogs not getting along with each other
Muzzle training - teaching dogs to accept and wear muzzles properly
How Do We Match Dog's for Puppy School?
It is really important that your dog meets lots of other types of dog's when they are you. I do see some specific "cavoodle" schools cropping up but I cannot stress how bad an idea this is. Now, it is important that if you have a large breed (eg Bernese Mountain dog) who starts a course at 13 weeks old and a Pomeranian (who starts the course at 12 weeks old) this can make things unfeasible. We will match dogs based on their relative size and age, but we also want to maintain a good mix of breeds in all of our classses.
Which Areas Do You Work In?
Currently we offer our school in the Eastern Suburbs (hopefully more locations coming soon!) We have had clients from all over Sydney and much further afield for our online programs. Clients have come from areas such as Bellevue Hill, Bondi Junction & Bondi Beach, Bronte, Clovelly, Coogee, Cremorne Point, Darling Point, Double Bay, Dover Heights, Ermington, Kirribilli, Kogoah, Mosman, Neutral Bay, North Bondi, North Sydney, Paddington, Potts Point, Randwick, Rose Bay, Tamarama, Vaucluse, Waverley and Woollahra.
Why Don't You Offer Puppy School Only?
This was based on feedback from our clients in both our puppy school and adult dog behavioural programs. We would work with plenty of clients who had received a "gold star" during puppy school but 4 months later couldn't walk their dog without barking. That isn't right. Helping your puppy to develop is far more than puppy school. Is it important for helping with commands and socialisation, absolutely but it is just a piece of the puzzle.
What Courses Are Available On The Video Support?
As a unique benefit of working with us, you will receive access to The Online Dog Trainer. You receive access to $4,000+ of video content for 6 months and Lifetime access to the Dog Calming Code. This covers 14 major courses including 4 dedicated puppy courses:
- Potty Training Troubles (Dedicated Puppy Program)

- Project Moses (Dedicated Puppy Program)
- Perfect Puppy Program (Dedicated Puppy Program)

How Does The Community Work?
For whichever program you sign up for, you will access everything through our online community. You will be able to ask questions to our team, other owners and access things like webinars, worksheets and documents
I Adopted A Slightly Older Rescue, Can You Help?
If you have a rescue and are looking for support, we can absolutely help. Rescue dogs are usually too old for the puppy school but you can join the adolescent program (8 months+) to help get support on how to manage common behavioural issues.

“I felt at ease leaving my rescue Bonnie (who also receives daily medication) with the Toe Beans Co while we traveled overseas. I know she got the care and daily pats she needs and even received regular videos and updates.”
