Never Guess Again vs ChatGPT and AI Chatbots
By Luke Buchanan, founder of The Toe Beans Co, Sydney. Updated October 2026.
Short answer: ChatGPT and other AI chatbots are good for quick puppy questions. They do not know your puppy, they can change their answer each time you ask, and they cannot give you a plan to follow. Never Guess Again gives you one force-free plan, week by week, from 8 weeks old to six months.
You asked ChatGPT because it was late and your puppy would not settle. It gave you an answer. Then you asked a different way and got a different one. This page explains where AI chatbots help, where they stop, and what is different about Never Guess Again.
ChatGPT and AI chatbots vs Never Guess Again at a glance
| ChatGPT and AI chatbots | Never Guess Again | |
|---|---|---|
| Knows your puppy | Only what you type in each time | Built around your puppy's age, week by week |

| Tells you what to do first | Gives a list of ideas | A clear plan for each week |
| Training method | Whatever it finds online, including methods that use force | Force-free only |
| Someone to ask | The chatbot | A recorded weekly Zoom Q&A with Luke, plus Ask Luke |
When ChatGPT is enough
AI chatbots are fast, they are free to start with, and they explain things in plain words. They work well for quick questions, like what a word means or how often a young puppy needs a toilet break. They are also useful for a first list of ideas to talk through with your vet or trainer.
When ChatGPT is not enough
- You do not know what to do first, so every idea feels equally important.
- Two answers disagree and you cannot tell which one is right.
- Your puppy changes every week and the advice does not keep up.
- You want to be sure the method is force-free.
A chatbot has never met your puppy. It does not know their age, their breed, which week they are in or what happened yesterday. It also draws on the whole internet, which includes methods that use pressure or correction. We never do. Our rule is no pain, no fear, no force and no aggression.
What changes with Never Guess Again
Never Guess Again: The 6-Month Puppy Programme is one plan, in the right order, for the stage your puppy is at. It is made by Luke, a Sydney force-free trainer. You always know what to do today.
It uses AI too, in a different way. Ask Luke is Luke's digital mind. It holds all of his training knowledge in one place, so your answers come from his method and not from the whole internet.
The course has five parts, so you only open what your puppy needs today:
- Orientation: day one, why the method works, how the course works and common puppy myths
- The Big 8: biting, toilet training, daily routine, crate training, crying, sleeping, home set up and socialisation
- The Weekly Journey: week by week, from 8 weeks old to six months, in order
- The Problem Library: handling and care like nail trims, teeth cleaning and vet visits, command training, recall and quick guides for common problems
- Learn About Your Breed: breed profiles and your breed-specific 4 week guide
On top of the course you get a weekly Zoom Q&A with Luke, recorded so you can watch it back, Ask Luke, a community you can stay in for life, and the Before Day One and Adult Dog Behaviour Guide bonuses.
You can use both
You do not have to give up ChatGPT. Use it for quick general questions. Use the programme as your plan. If the two ever disagree, follow the programme, because it was built for your puppy's stage.
Who this is for
New puppy owners who want one clear plan instead of piecing together advice. It is online, so you can do it from anywhere. If you would rather learn in person with other puppies, take a look at our puppy school.
