Puppy School Eastern Suburbs Sydney | Zetland

Puppy School Eastern Suburbs Sydney - Now Running at Dogs in Town, Zetland

Zetland sits at the centre of one of Sydney's most densely dog-friendly communities. Green Square, Rosebery, Waterloo, Erskineville, Redfern, Beaconsfield - the entire pocket is full of dog owners who take their animals seriously. What it hasn't always had is a puppy school that matches that standard.

The Toe Beans Co Puppy School is coming to Zetland in June 2026, running at Dogs in Town on Epsom Road - a five-star rated facility that's quickly built a reputation as one of the best dog care spaces in the inner south. Weekend classes, small groups, and a program that covers far more than just commands.

This is our second Eastern Suburbs location alongside Paddington, and it fills an important gap. Where Paddington tends to suit smaller breeds particularly well, Zetland is a strong fit for dogs of all sizes. The space is well set up for larger breeds, the facility is professionally managed, and the Dogs in Town team bring the same standard of care to Zetland that their other locations are known for.

Why Dogs in Town Zetland

Dogs in Town has built a genuine reputation across Sydney, and the Zetland location is no exception. It's a purpose-built dog care facility that operates daily with professional staff who understand dog behaviour and take welfare seriously. The space is cleaned to a high standard every day - which matters significantly for puppy school, where young dogs with developing immune systems are sharing a space.

The Epsom Road location is one of the most accessible points in the inner south. Whether you're coming from Zetland itself, Green Square, Waterloo, Rosebery, Redfern, or even across from Alexandria and Newtown, the location is practical and weekend access is straightforward.

All Breeds, All Sizes

One of the things that makes Zetland particularly well suited to puppy school is the space. We take between 6 and 10 puppies per class, and the facility comfortably accommodates the full range - from toy breeds and small companion dogs through to larger working breeds, XL breeds and more.

The Eastern Suburbs dog community is genuinely diverse in this regard. You're just as likely to see a Bernese Mountain Dog in Zetland as a Chihuahua, and our program is built to handle that range. Every breed has its own tendencies, its own energy levels, and its own set of common challenges. Our trainers are across all of them, and the curriculum adapts accordingly.

What doesn't change is the framework. Calm, consistent, force-free training works across every size and every breed. We've never needed pain or fear to produce a well-behaved dog, and we never will.

What the Program Covers

Our 4-week program is the same high standard delivered at every Toe Beans Co location. Here's what you can expect across the four sessions.

Week 1 - Foundations and First Impressions

Structured puppy introductions, core commands (Sit, Down, Stay), supervised socialisation with trainer narration, and practical help with the two things that consume most new owners in the early weeks - biting and teething, and toileting. A framed photo of your puppy is taken in Week 1 and presented as a graduation gift at Week 4.

Week 2 - Adding Difficulty

Progressing commands under distraction, introducing Stay versus Wait, the first steps of structured loose-lead walking, and addressing jumping and attention barking. We also begin introducing the Five Golden Rules of Relational Leadership - the behavioural framework that underpins everything we teach.

Week 3 - Building Reliability

Command chains to build mental fatigue, recall under real distraction, off-leash structured walking, and separation anxiety prevention. By Week 3, puppies are noticeably bigger and more demanding. We'll give you breed-specific guidance on exercise and mental stimulation to match where your dog is at developmentally.

Week 4 - Real-World Skills and Graduation

Loose-leash walking techniques, park play education, managing adolescent behaviours that are already starting to emerge, and a full graduation with your Week 1 framed photo. After Week 4, you stay connected through our Skool community - a private platform for ongoing support long after the classes finish.

Our Training Philosophy

We operate under one non-negotiable standard at every location. No pain. No fear. No force. No aggression.

Our method is Relational Leadership - a framework built on earning your dog's trust and respect through calm, consistent behaviour rather than corrections, bribery, or dominance. It produces dogs that are genuinely well-mannered because they understand what's expected of them, not because they're performing for a treat or avoiding something unpleasant.

This is not about being soft. It's about being clear. And clear, consistent leadership is the most effective thing you can give a young dog.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do classes start? June 2026. Register your interest now to be first in line when bookings open.

What age should my puppy be? We recommend starting from around 8 weeks old. Puppies need to have received or be imminently due their second vaccination before joining group sessions.

Is this location suitable for larger breeds? Yes - this is one of the reasons we chose Zetland as our second Eastern Suburbs location. The Dogs in Town facility on Epsom Road is well set up for all sizes, and we're experienced working with the full range.

What areas does this location serve? Zetland, Green Square, Waterloo, Rosebery, Redfern, Beaconsfield, Erskineville, and across the inner south. For clients in Paddington, Surry Hills, or Darlinghurst, our original Eastern Suburbs location at Dogs in Town Paddington may also be worth considering.

Is the in-home visit included? Yes, always. It's a core part of the program, not an add-on.

The Toe Beans Co runs Puppy School across Sydney including Paddington, Neutral Bay, Marrickville, and Alexandria. No pain, no fear, no force, no aggression - at every location, every time.
