Sydney Puppy School & Training

Puppy school starts with a four week group class, which every level gets, along with the Relational Leadership framework, Before Day One and lifetime community access. From Silver up you add home sessions, the online course, 24/7 digital trainer support that knows your course and direct support from Luke.

There are four levels, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, so you can choose how involved you want us to be.

If your puppy is too old for the group class, Private Puppy Training replaces it with an extra home session at every level.

Group puppy school runs at six venues, and all six take bookings: Dogs in Town at 308 Oxford Street, Paddington; Dogs in Town at 44 Epsom Road, Zetland; Dogs in Town at 500 Glenmore Road, Edgecliff; Dogs in Town at 266 Mitchell Road, Alexandria; Dogs in Town at 55 Addison Road, Marrickville; and DoggieLove at 71 Military Road, Neutral Bay.

Anyone in Sydney can attend any of them. Start dates vary by venue, so check the booking page for what is running next or ask us and we will tell you.

Your one to one sessions happen at your own address wherever you are in Sydney, so only the group class brings you to a venue.

Getting enrolled is simple. Go to the puppy page and choose your level of support. Then pick your puppy school date, and you will be asked to book your one to one sessions, the number depending on the tier you chose. Everything is sent straight to your calendar.

Start as early as you can. We begin working with puppies from eight weeks, at home, on toileting, biting, sleep and settling.

Group puppy school starts once the second vaccination is done, which is usually somewhere in the eleven to thirteen week range and most commonly at twelve weeks. Classes run for four weeks, one session a week, capped at ten puppies and matched by size.

The socialisation window stays open until 24 weeks, which is the same as six months, so you have a real but limited run at it. Most of the problems that show up at six or twelve months are preventable if you start before they start.

Puppy School runs up to 16 weeks. If your puppy is already older than that, the work moves into Private Puppy Training instead, and it is still well worth doing.

On Silver and above we come to your home before the group course starts and set up the basics: routine, environment, crate, toileting and the first rules. It is the piece most schools skip, and it is why so many dogs do well in class then regress at home. Bronze is the group class on its own.

Positive reinforcement and relational leadership. No shock collars, no prong collars, no force. We get your dog to choose to listen, rather than making them afraid not to.

There are four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Every level includes the same four weeks of group puppy school, lifetime community access and 24/7 digital trainer support.

• Bronze is the group class. Your 24/7 digital trainer support uses our free guides.
• Silver adds one session in your own home, one month of the online course, and one month of asking questions in the community, answered by Luke.
• Gold has three home sessions, three months of the course, phone and text support for three months and a weekly Zoom Q&A.
• Platinum has ten home sessions, six months of the course, priority phone and text for six months, a kick-off call, a breed 4 week guide, the video library and training equipment. It is limited to five clients at a time.

From Silver up, your digital trainer support knows your course. Most families choose Silver.

Classes are capped at ten puppies and matched by size, so it is safe and there is room to actually work.

No honest trainer guarantees that. What we can say is owners who follow the programme see real improvement within days, weeks and months. The 1-1-1 rule: progress in one day, one week, one month.

Your puppy needs their second vaccination to join the group class. That usually lands somewhere between eleven and thirteen weeks, and puppy school runs up to sixteen weeks.

If your puppy is past that, nothing is lost. One to one training at home works at any age. Private Puppy Training is the full program done in your home, and from 32 weeks there is Adult Dog Training, booked one 90 minute session at a time.
